New Delhi. Ahead of India’s first warm-up match of the T20 World Cup against England in Dubai on Monday, captain Virat Kohli took out time to record a video that went viral as soon as it was shared on social media. Done. Kohli has shared a video on his official Twitter account on Monday, in which he is seen jokingly copying the batting style of his fellow player Shikhar Dhawan. While sharing this video, he has also tagged Shikhar Dhawan in it and asked Shikhi, how is it?
Shikhi is the nickname of Shikhar Dhawan, which his teammates use to call him. Kohli copied Shikhar Dhawan’s exact facial expressions, batting style and mannerisms. In this video, Virat Kohli says, “Hi, I am going to copy Virat Kohli and I am Shikhar Dhawan, because I think he is completely lost in his place, so it is very funny. I’ve seen it many times from the other end.
Shikhar Dhawan was recently in action for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021, scoring 587 runs in 16 matches. He emerged as the fourth highest run-scorer in IPL 2021 behind Rituraj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul. However, Dhawan missed out on a place in India’s T20 World Cup squad. After not selecting him, the selectors said that the left-handed batsman has been rested. Dhawan last played for India in July in a limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, where he led the team in six matches – three ODIs and three T20 Internationals.

Despite having a stellar record in ICC tournaments, Shikhar Dhawan was overlooked for the T20 World Cup, which surprised many fans and former cricketers alike. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma are expected to open for India, while Kohli and Rohit are also likely to open the innings for India as was the case during the India vs England series in March. Former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad was one of those who felt that Shikhar Dhawan could be a valuable addition to the team.
MSK Prasad said on Sports Tak, “Personally I felt that maybe since this is a big event, someone like Shikhar Dhawan could have really been brought in. Considering the fact that he has always performed well in ICC tournaments. He scored centuries one after the other in IPL, so he is in perfect form. I think he could have been more useful to the team.
