IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals heartbroken for the third consecutive year, Captain Pant told the plan ahead

New Delhi. Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, who faced defeat in a very exciting match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), expressed hope that his team will come back strongly next year. Delhi, who were in the top two after performing well throughout the season, were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets in the second qualifier on Wednesday. Despite giving KKR an easy target of 136 runs, the bowlers returned Delhi to the match. KKR needed six runs in the last two balls and Delhi bowler Ravichandran Ashwin was on a hat-trick but Rahul Tripathi hit a six to give KKR victory.

Pant said, “Nothing can change after the match. We wanted to stay in the match till the last minute. The bowlers brought us back into the match and bowled brilliantly in the middle overs. The batsmen failed to rotate the strike.” He said, “Hopefully next year we will come back strongly. We played good cricket throughout the tournament and supported each other. Will play better next year.”

Delhi’s team was on top of the points table after the league round. In Qualifier-1, he was defeated by CSK in the last over. Delhi’s team could not reach the final for the third time after being on top. Earlier in 2012 and also in 2016, the team could not make it to the finals after being on top.
